Notes for this person
George was born and married in Hajen, DE. He left Germany in 1846 shortly after getting married and settled near Fort Wayne, Indiana. His wife was probably just pregnant or got pregnant on the ship, as the first of their two children was born exactly 10 months later. He lived only 6 years in America and died in a cholera epidemic that killed also three other family members within a very short period of time. Witnesses to his death were Mr. Zollinger and Ludwig Weber, who subsequently married George's widow, about one and one-half years after George's death. The family were members of Sankt Johannes Lutheran Church.
