Charles Frederich William BORCHARDT

"Carl Frederich William Borchardt,</p><p><p> a member of the county board of supervisors of Jefferson County and chairman of the</p></p><p><p>township board of Jefferson township, is thus actively identified with</p></p><p><p>the public interests of this section of the state. He is also conducting a</p></p><p><p>saloon at Helenville, in which business he as engaged for three years. He</p></p><p><p>was born in Germany in 1862, a son of Carl and Fredericka (Frederick)</p></p><p><p>Borchardt, who were also natives of that country, but left Germany in</p></p><p><p>1866 and came to America when their son Carl was but four years of age.</p></p><p><p>Crossing the continent to Wisconsin, they took up theirabode in</p></p><p><p>Farmington township, Jefferson county, where the wife and mother</p></p><p><p>passed away at the age of seventy-two years. The father afterward died</p></p><p><p>at the home ofhis son Carl in Helenville at the age of eighty-six years.</p></p><p><p>Carl F. W. Borchardt was reared on the old homestead, early becoming</p></p><p><p>familiar with the best methods of tilling thesoil and caring for the</p></p><p><p>crops. He was educated in the district and parochial schools of</p></p><p><p>Helenville and took up the occupation of farming as a lifes work,</p></p><p><p>eventually succeeding to the ownership of the old homestead of eighty</p></p><p><p>acres. This he owned and conducted until 1910, whe he removed to</p></p><p><p>Helenville, where he had purchased a residencesome years before. Here</p></p><p><p>he operated a small tract of land of seventeen acres which he had</p></p><p><p>previously purchased, and in 1914 he bought a saloon, which he has since</p></p><p><p>conducted. Mr. Borchardt was married in this county to Henrietta Thoma,</p></p><p><p>a native of Jefferson County. He is a Lutheran and in politics a</p></p><p><p>Democrat. After serving for two years as assessor of Jefferson</p></p><p><p>township, he was made chairman of the township board of supervisors</p></p><p>and is now serving for the second year as a member of the county board.</p>
