<p>MARIA KROLL LEISCHNER</p><p><p>Maria Kroll was born to August and Louise Doering Kroll on March 15, 1864, in Kulm Bessarabia, Rumania. Maria was one of eleven children: Mike, Magdaline, Adolf, Otto, Daniel, Sophie, Gottlieb, Manlin, Johann and Salome. Many of these children died at an early age.</p><p><p>Maria came with her parents to America in 1877. They sailed on the same ship that the Leischners did earlier that year. The name of the vessel was the "SS Mosel" and the captain was HAF Neynaber. This ship went from Bremenvia Southhampton, England to New York. It arrivied at the protof New York on November 9, 1878. They went through immigration at "Castle "Gardens". The people would usually have to tell the immigration office where they were going. Many people from the town ofKulm came in this boat.</p><p><p>The Kroll family boarded a train and came directly from New York to Dakota Territory.</p></p><p><p>Only two of Maria's brothers and sisters lived to make this tripp.According to the Lutheran Church records the others died before they reached the age of one. </p></p><p><p>Maria's father dug a sod house for them to live in. It was located near Parkston, S.D. Some people say the Krolls lived in Indian Territory but the closest Indian Tribe was 60 to 100 miles away. This was about a two or three day journey. In my opinion, the krolls lived somewhere south of the Dry Creek Church because they helped buld this church.</p><p><p>Daniel Leischner and Maria kroll were married on april 10, 1881. They both lived in the Untied States for three years.</p></p><p><p>It was Maria that convinced Daniel to join the Baptist Church. Maria and Daniel were batized in 1881, by the Rev. Reichle of the Dry Creek Church. This was a very important year for Maria and Daniel becuase they were baptized, married and became homesteaders.</p><p><p>They were blessed with twelve children, four of whom died at infancy. </p></p><p><p>Maria lost her mother in 1906, a son in 1918, and her father in 1922. She died of dropsy on November 2, 1925. Maria had lived a hard life.</p></p><p><p> OBITUARY</p></p><p><p>Maria Leischner, nee Kroll, was born March 28th, 1861, at Kulm, Rumania, and died at her home at Parkston, S.D. on November 2, 1926, from dropsy. The deceased had reached the age of 62 years, 7 months and 4 days at the time of her death.</p><p><p>Mrs. Leischner was married to Daniel Leischner, on April 10th, 1881. To this union were born twelve children, four of whom died in infancy, and a son in his 31st year.</p></p><p><p>In the spring of the present year Mrs. Leischner began to fail, and as the summer months passed by her condition became gradually worse, so that she was forced to bear great suffering. Although she cherished hope of recoveryalmost to the last, at the end she was ready to submit to the will of God, and on Monday evening she sell asleep to await the great day of the resurrection of the saints.</p><p><p>Mrs. Leischner leaves to mourn her death, her husband; four married sons; Ed, Fred, Emil and Sam Leischner; her three married daughter - Mrs. John Miedema, Mrs. Dewey Taylor, and Mrs. James Simmons; twenty-seven grandchildren and three brothers.</p><p><p>Mrs. Leischner accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour in her seventeenth year and was baptized by Rev. Reichle. She has been a member of the Parkston Baptist church for many years and has been found a faithful attendant. may the Lord graciously bring comfort and consolation to the hearts of the bereaved ones in their sorrow and distress.</p><p><p>The funeral services were held at the Baptist church on Frisday afternoon, and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. P.J. Kayser, and the interment was made at the Parkston cemetery on the south side of town.</p><p><p>CARD OF THANKS</p></p><p><p> We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to many friends for their act of kindness adn works of sympathy expressed during the sickness and after the death of our beloved wife and mother.</p><p><p> DANIEL LEISCHNER AND CHILDREN</p></p><p>Maria's father dug a sod house for them to live in.
