daughter of Abraham SCHWARTZ and Antonia SALVORO
<p>Ruth M. Dougherty Former resident of San Rafael, CA On May 1st, 2008, our world became an emptier place with the peaceful passing of our mother, Ruth Michaela Dougherty. She was born in Manila PI on March 30th, 1928 to Antonia Salvoro and Abraham Schwartz. After World War II, Ruth, her mother and brothers Richard Schwartz, Robert Schwartz and Ralph Schwartz moved to Chicago IL. She moved to Denver CO, and married Bob Dougherty in 1955. They moved to San Rafael in 1964, where Mom resided for over 40 years. She had endless amounts of energy and drive and was able to balance careers while raising three children. Her careers included owner of Dougherty's International, an import/manuf. company and an insurance career with Fireman's Fund and Great West Life Ins. Co. The most rewarding of hercareers was probably her time as host mother to international exchange students at Dominican College. After retirement, she spent time volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul. Mom loved all kinds of music and dance and she shared these activities with her many international friends. She was technologically ahead of her time and a "CNN News" junkie. She leaves behind her children, Michael Dougherty ofNevada, Nancy Morra (Raymond) of Alamo, CA, Cecelia Liss of Pleasanton, CA, along with her grandchildren Amber Dougherty, Erin Morra, Russell Morra, Andy Liss, Eric Liss and her beloved dog, Skipper.Mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cary IL and Burial at Windridge Cemetery and Memorial Park, Cary IL.
