Er war der letzte Herr auf Selwerd, danach wurde die Burg durch die Groninger geschleift.
Die Familie v. Selwerd (v. Gronebeke) gehörte mit den ten Hove v. Selwerd, v. Sepperode und v. Groningen zu den Präfektengeschlechtern, den Lehnsnehmern des Bischofs von Utrecht, in Groningen. Zu Selwerd befand sich ab ca. 1280 das Gogericht.
