SCOTT . Dennis Richard Scott was born in Brush, Colorado on December 29, 1930, to Joseph and Frances Scott and passed away on May 1, 2014. The pages of his life tell the story of a man who had a heart for his fellow man, his family, his community, his country, and ultimately, his God. He graduated from high school at 16 years of age, having skipped some grades. He then graduated from University of California, Berkeley (UC) Berkeley, attended Officer Candidate School, served as a naval officer during the Korean War, and finally attended UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). He married Katie Rinn in 1958 and had three sons. Dennis practiced law as an attorney in Firebaugh, CA until 1975, when he became Judge Scott. He continued to serve first as a Justice, then a Superior Court Judge until 2005. During his long career as a public servant, he was also involved in the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and the local School Board, among other organizations. Dennis believed in hard work and in helping his fellow man. Many who have known him tell of his friendliness, his generosity, his good humor, and his intelligence. But it was only in the later stages of his life that his heart towards God really began to shine through. In his last days, there was nothing too small to pray about. And those of us who were there will never forget his hearty "Amen"! Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katharine Scott. He is survived by his sons. Also by his grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from 11:00 till 5:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Followed by a Celebration of Life, at the Northside Christian Church, 2709 E.
