Pastor Nancy Manning will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Don passed away March 6, 2012 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. Don was born on July 8, 1922 in rural Claremont to John and Mabel (Terry) Hinrichs. He attended school in the Claremont School District. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served from December of 1942-January of 1946. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to the Claremont area to farm. Don was united in marriage to Marjorie Perkins on October 4, 1947. Don was a member of the Claremont United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also belonged to the Claremont Sportsman’s Club and had served on local boards at various times throughout his life. Other than farming and raising livestock, he enjoyed attending horse/dog racing and state baseball and basketball events. As the Legion Athletic Director, he coached various baseball programs in Claremont. Don also enjoyed playing cards, gardening in later years and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings games on TV. Celebrating his life is his wife, Marjorie; his children, Rex Hinrichs of Madison, Wisconsin; Rod Hinrichs of Groton; Jean (Brad) Carson of Chamberlain, sister-in-law, Drucilla Hinrichs of Claremont, daughter-in-law, Jill Hinrichs of Claremont, his grandchildren, Brendan (Carrie) Hinrichs of Claremont; Donovan Carson of Chamberlain; Davis Carson of Chamberlain and Whitney Hinrichs of Blaine, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant brother and brothers, Jack Hinrichs, Max Hinrichs, Dean Hinrichs, his sister, Melrose Alberts, his son, Jan, sister-in-law, Francis Hinrichs and brother-in-law, Jess Alberts. Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Don’s friends.
