He passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD on June 21, 2015 at the age of 75. Delwyn graduated from Hecla High School and married the love of his life, Shirley Dinger on November 24, 1957. Delwyn’s greatest joy was spending time with family. He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hecla. His kind and gentle spirit was always available to help anyone in the church and community. His carpentry and electrician skills enabled him to fix and mend just about anything. He loved to bring the pontoon to the lake and give the grandchildren rides and help them fish. Delwyn and Shirley made several special woodworking pieces for each of their children and grandchildren. He loved to hunt and fish, played softball and was an umpire at the Hecla ball field for many years. He enjoyed playing pinochle, bowling, and loved flying as a member of the Ellendale Flying Club. The grandkids loved his funny sense of humor, as well as his trivia knowledge. Delwyn retired as the Superintendent of Utilities for the City of Hecla after working for 39 years. Prior to working for the city, he did a variety of jobs in Hecla and worked in the vermiculite mines in Libby, MT. He was a member of Jaycees, the ODD Fellows, Hecla Alumni Association, and James Valley Threshing Association. He was also a fireman and ambulance driver for many years. Delwyn is survived by his wife, Shirley; his three children, Randy, Sandy and Heidi, and his father, Lyle Tisher. Delwyn’s son, Randy (Cheryl) Tisher, and children Autumn (Joe) Ansell, Kamaria (Jason) Serfling, Vanessa (Kyle) Bowman, and Megan (Casey) Hlavacek; Delwyn’s daughter, Sandy (Terry) Anderson, and children Toni (Dave) Mattson and Weston (Liz) Dinger, as well as 3 step-daughters and their families; Delwyn’s daughter, Heidi (Neal) Criddle and children Ambur Curry, Amanda (Mike) Connick, and Devin Lunzman; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ken (Mary) Tisher, Vic (Josie Niehoff) Tisher, Suzy (Mike) McKay, Tim (Ruby) Tisher, Polly (Dick Henninger) Becker, and Shawn (Kevin) Carlson; and in-laws, Dick (Shirley) Dinger, Jean Dinger, Darrel (Loraine) Dinger, Don Dinger, Bill (Pat Stewart) Keeter, Dixie (Russ) Clark, Bonnie (Dan) Olson, and Judy (Gene) Skoglund. Delwyn was preceded in death by his mother Wilma; his parents in-law Bill and Violet Dinger; great-grandson Peyton Bray; in-laws Beverly Tisher, Charlotte Keeter, Carol Dinger and Harold Dinger.
