To offer condolences please visit www.walterjohnsonfh.com Charlotte was born in Newark to Henry and Anna (nee Mahoney) Blenke on March 18, 1931. Raised in Irvington and Colonia, she graduated from Woodbridge High School and then Berkeley School of Business. In September of 1956 she married Fred J. Schieferstein and moved to Clark, where she lived until her passing. Charlotte worked many jobs as a secretary, temporary office assistant, receptionist and waitress. She also worked at Schieferstein Farm of Clark, where locals knew her as a fixture for over 50 years. She was most proud of her employment at American Express Company of New York City during the late 1940’s through the early 1950’s and the excitement of working in the city at that time. She enjoyed playing the piano and electronic keyboard as well as cooking and baking for her family. With her husband, she was active in many veteran and specifically POW organizations. She enjoyed recounting her childhood, her many work experiences and recalling all the friends and good times she had throughout her life. Charlotte will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Fred. She is survived by her two sons, Fred H. Schieferstein and Andrew E. Schieferstein and his wife Laura and her two grandsons, Anderson Schieferstein and Luke Schieferstein. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad, 875 Raritan Road, Clark, NJ 07066.
