Mazie Lu Washburn DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Mazie (Cook) Washburn passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Abbey Delray, a life-care community where she and Donald J. Washburn, her loving husband of 66 years, were living. Born January 7, 1921, in Bacon Hill to Walter and Myrtle (King) Cook, she was one of ten children raised on her family farm. She was a graduate of Schuylerville High School. She was a devoted wife and mother to her surviving children, the Reverend Dr. Donald R. Washburn of Burnt Hills, Rosemary A. Rogers and her husband, Don, of Longmeadow, Mass., and Dr. Willard H. Washburn and his wife, Renee, of Albany. She is survived by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Cook of Warson Woods, Miss., and a multitude of nieces, nephews and an extended family. She was a partner to her husband in the building of a feed mill with the Grange League Federation in Gansevoort. She was active in local granges and the Eastern Star. She also served as an occupational therapist in the psychiatric unit of the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cooperstown and the Bacon Hill Reformed Church. Her life's work was her family. Her children were the beneficiaries of her love, support, encouragement and wisdom. She and her sisters provided home care to her aging parents who lived to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary in their home in Gansevoort. She leaves this world a better place because of her life. Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the Bacon Hill Reformed Church in Bacon Hill, followed by a funeral service. For further information, call Flynn Bros.
