David Mercer officiating. Mrs. Peavler-Bosler died Oct. 27, 2005, in Salida, Colo. She was born April 3, 1914, in Agawam. She graduated from Minco High School in 1931 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She taught for several years in rural Oklahoma schools and later earned a degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. She became the first woman to teach at the Colorado State Reformatory in Buena Vista, Colo., retiring in 1971. She is survived by sons, Terry Peavler and James Peavler; stepdaughters, Jody Springer, Jerry Watkins and Sheryl McCullough; stepsons, Jim Bosler, Jack Bosler, Tim Bosler, Tom Bosler and David Bosler; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. ∼ Louise Peavler-Bosler, a longtime area resident and former Buena Vista schoolteacher, died in Salida on Oct. 28, 2005, at the age of 91. Louise was a dedicated teacher and a woman of quick wit, wide-ranging interests and strong opinions. She loved to travel but never found a sight she liked better than the view of Mount Princeton from her kitchen window. Louise was born Anna Louise Martin on April 3, 1914, in Agawam, Okla., the second daughter of William Charles Martin and Theoda Rinn Martin. She grew up on her parents' farm, attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., and taught in rural Oklahoma schools. On March 24, 1938, Louise married William Marion Peavler, a graduate of Oklahoma agricultural and Mechanical College (later Oklahoma State University) and employee of Carter Oil Company. Their son James Martin was born in 1940; their son Terry Joe in 1942. The Peavler family moved from Oklahoma to the Buena Vista area in 1946. Both Bill and Louise taught in the Buena Vista schools and were charter members of the First Baptist Church. Bill Peavler died in 1956. While continuing her teaching career in the public schools, Louise earned a degree from Western State College in Gunnison. She later taught at the Colorado State Reformatory in Buena Vista, from which she retired in 1971. In 1961, she married Mervin E. (Slim) Hedges; they were divorced in 1975. She married Oscar Bosler of Union City, Okla., in 1981. Oscar died later that year. In the years that followed, Louise traveled considerably, spending winters in Escondido, Calif., and later in Albuquerque, N.M. Because of failing health, she moved to Columbine Manor in Salida in 2002. Louise is survived by two sons, Dr. Terry J. Peavler and Dr. James M. Peavler; a step-daughter, Jody Hedges Springer; five grandchildren, Tammy Peavler Gentzel, Terry W. Peavler, Tom Peavler, Julie Peavler McCord and James P. Peavler; seven great- grandchildren; as well as a niece, JoAnn Pinkston Gedosh of Fort Smith, Ark., who was as dear to her as a daughter.
