Knickle, 39, of First South, occurred suddenly on Saturday, August 30, at Martin's Brook. Basil was born at Blue Rocks April 26, 1936 and was the son of Kenneth and Iona Knickle of Blue Rocks. He was self-employed and was associated with his brother, Elroy, in the business of Knickle Brothers Gulf Service Station and for the past year was car salesman for Saunders Motors Ltd., representing the Lunenburg area. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, the former Doris Zinck; daughter of Erling Zinck, Crouse's Settlemet; daughters, Wanda and Sharon, all at home; and one brother, Elroy, Gold River. The largely attended funeral was held from Grace Lutheran Church, First South on Tuesday, September 2, at 2 p.m. the Rev. J.M. Slack officiating. Hymns sung by the male choir were "What A Friend we Have in Jesus" and "This is My Father's World." On departure, "Just As I Am" was also sung. Burial was at the Blue Rocks Cemetery. Pallbearers were four of his closest friends, Mervyn, Paul, and Gary Feener, and Marvin Spindler.
