George Majors of the Church of God officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Stephan died Saturday at Charlevoix Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in ill health for some time. Born in Drenthe in southern Michigan on June 2, 1890, he came to Ellsworth as a child. He married the former Marilda E. Dennis Aug. 12, 1912, and they lived in Lansing until 1921 when they returned north to live in Charlevoix Township. MR. STEPHAN owned and operated a service station at the intersection of US - 31 South and the Barnard Road until 1949. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was active in township politics, having served as a member of the township zoning board. Besides his widow, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lamper of Grand Rapids.
