<p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Johann Bünting wurde im Jahre 1814, als die alten Kirchspiele zu politischen Gemeinden übergingen, Edewechts erster Gemeindevorsteher oder "Bürgermeister". Er übte dieses Amt bis 1832 aus. Als "Veenbur" betrieb er die umfangreichste Weißbier-Brauerei innerhalb der Gemeinde.</p>
