In 1934 the family moved to the Benedict area where Bruce was raised and educated. Westman in Benedict, ND, following their marriage, they made their home inthe Ruso area. Bruce served as a rural mail carrier for 38 years in the Ruso area. Bruce farmed the home farm until his retirement, and was kind of the handy man in the Ruso area. Bruce and Jennie hada Ruso address all their married life together. Jennie died April 15, 2003. Bruce continued to have a home in Ruso until his death. Just recently he moved to Minot. Since 1997 he had been a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Bruce loved spending his time for the church and got started quilting with the Oak Valley Church ladies. He also became a lay pastor with the GIFTs program for the Western synod of the ELCA. He led service for many churches, for many years. He also helped with services at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva. He was a member of the Butte American Legion Post 292.
