He graduated from Yale High School and Huron College. He worked for Standard Oil in Huron. While in Huron he was an active member of Bethesda Church. He and his wife, Lillian often performed with Arnold singing and Lillian accompanying him on the piano. They lived in Pierre, South Dakota and Cheyenne, Wyoming, before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1963. Arnold worked for the US Army Corpsof Engineers during this time until his retirement in 1980 as a Real Estate Specialist.
