Notes for this person

Rennie Fredrick Griem was born October 20, 1860 in the town of Loge inthe province of Germany. He came to America in the year of 1877, at theage of 17.

He lived in Sedgwick county of Kansas in the community which is now Cheney, for a period of two years. He then moved to Kingman county and homesteaded in Belmont township.

In the year 1893 he moved to the farm which is known as the "Fritz Griem Farm," two miles north of Zenda, where he resided until the year of 1923. Since then he has made his home with his children, the past two years with his son, Fred H. Griem and family on a farm near Sharon, wherehe passed on April 6, 1940, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 16 days.

He was baptized into the Lutheran church in Germany and with his familyattended the Nashville Lutheran Church of which he was a member.

He joined the Masonic Lodge at Spivey, in the year 1892 and became a charter member and the first master of the lodge at Zenda in the year of1907.

In 1882 he was united in marriage to Anna Dorothea Bartells who preceded him in death in the year of 1922.

To this union were born five children, four which survive him. A daughter, Mrs. Sophia McVicker, proceeded him in death in 1925.

There are left to mourn his going, three sons; Charles F., Medicine Lodge; Rennie R. and Fred H. of Sharon; one daughter, Dorothy DeLena, wifeof Frank D. Rall, Zenda.

Thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Sophia Winters and a brother, Henry who still resides in his old home community inGermany. Numerous nephews and nieces and other relatives in this community and in Germany and also a host of friends.
