Raymond John Fiddelke, son of Dietrich and Emma Kruse Fiddelke, was born March 18, 1911, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran school in Germantown. He was then employed as a farm hand in Paullina area before being called to service during World War II. He served in the Army in the Battle of the Bulge receiving the purple heart and five battle stars. He returned to Paullina area in 1945. On August 15, 1947, he was united marriage to Selma Oeffner at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Paullina area until 1975 when they retired he moved into Paullina. Ray passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1991 at the Marion Health Center in Sioux City, reaching the age of eight years,six months and 21 days. He was baptized in April 1911 and later confirmed in March of 1925 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown and wascurrently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, serving his church in many ways as Elder and trustee. Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife Selma of Paullina; one daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Marlo Ebell of Paullina; one son and daughter-in-law, Frederick andJoan Oeffner of Columbia, Maryland; six grandchildren: Brian Oeffner, Renee Oeffner, Mike Ebel, Paula Kommes, Jane Oeffner and Cathrine Oeffner; three great-grandchildren: Grant, Ashlee, and Andrew Ebel; one sister, Mrs. Doreen Henderson of Long Beach, California also a host of otherrelatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence;parents: three brothers and four sisters. This information is providedby the funeral program for Raymond J. Fiddelke.
