Ehler Koehlmoos
Mr. Ehler Koehlmoos, one of the old settlers of Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, a man who was highly respected and esteemed by his neighbors and friends, died Sunday morning, November 25th [1923], at his country home west of Germantown. Death came as a result of a severe attack of asthma and heart trouble.
The deceased was born March 29, 1851 at Vechold, Hanover, Germany, thusattained the age of seventy-two years, seven months and twenty-seven days at the time of his death. In 1867 at the age of sixteen years, he came to this country, taking up his home at Homewood, near Chicago, Illinois. On February 22, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Maria Broocks. The bride and groom came to O'Brien County immediately after theirmarriage and took up their home on the farm three miles west of Germantown which has been continuously the family home until the present time. The good wife; five sons, Henry, William, Frederick, Emil and Edwin;and three daughters, Mrs. Minna Kuhlman, Mrs. Emma Kuester and Miss Hilda Koehlmoos survive the passing unto death of the beloved husband andfather.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, November 28th at the St. John's Evangelical church at Germantown [Iowa] with Rev. Theo. Wilfram officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery at Germantown.
