He served in the U.S.Army from March. 30, 1942 til Oct. 30, 1945, time42 months. He then became a farmer northeast of Elk Creek, NE. MarriedOct. 16, 1947 to Katharine Bartels at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, ElkCreek, Pawnee, NE. In 1948 moved to a farm northwest of Cook, NE. therethey lived rest of married life.
They had 5 children. Donald, David, Delwin, Sam, and Linda Gapp. 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. a brother Norman and a sister Helen.
Funeral services were held at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook, NE. onNov. 19, 2003.
