Elvera Marie Bohlmann, 92, of Watseka IL went home to her Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Elvera was born June 10, 1923 in Buckley (Ash Grove Township) to Fred and Bertha (Schumacher) Koester.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka IL with Rev. Don Love officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
Elvera was baptized on July 1, 1923 and confirmed on March 21, 1937 atSt. John's Lutheran Church, Ash Grove. She graduated from Cissna Park High School in 1942. She then graduated from Gallagher Business School in Kankakee and worked in the Accounting Department at Florence Stove Company (later Roper's) in Kankakee for 13 years. She married Wilbert Bohlmann on August 17, 1956. Following her marriage, she babysat for 12 years in their home after which she was the Secretary at Calvary LutheranChurch for 14 ½ years until her retirement. Following retirement, shewas a volunteer at the Preschool at Calvary Lutheran Church through 2005. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.
Elvera is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Lawrence) Mitchell, Bloomington, IN, Gretchen (Rick) Elliott, Watseka, and Sarah (Gene) Elston,Alpharetta, GA; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Anderson, Scotia, New York, and Velma Swan, Lombard, IL, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Koester, Danforth, IL; one aunt, Velma Cluver,Danforth, IL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Norma Mau and one brother, Ralph Koester.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Preschool.
