Lester J. H. GRIEME

Lester J. H. Grieme was born

on May 26, 1918, to Adolf and

Frieda (Holtz) Grieme in Alta.

He was baptized on June 2,

1918 at St. John Lutheran

Church, Hanover, and confirmed

on March 20, 1932, at St.

John Lutheran Church, Hanover.

Lester also attended

Hanover Parochial School.

On February 23, 1939, Lester

was united in marriage to Della

F. Menke at St. John Lutheran

Church, Hanover. This union

was blessed with two children,

Sandra and James.

Lester was engaged in farming

until 1961, when they

moved to Alta. He worked for

Hygrade Food Products until

1978. He then worked as a

school custodian at Galva for

two years. He became the

groundskeeper at the Alta city

park for seven years. In his

younger years, he drove the bus

for St John School.

Lester was a life-long member

of St. John Lutheran

Church, Hanover. He served as

trustee for one term, financial

secretary for one term, and as

the church custodian.

He was preceded in death by

his parents; an infant brother,

John; and one sister, Arlene

Swink.

Lester is survived by his

wife, Delia of Alta; one daughter,

Sandra and her husband

Jerry Gunnerson of Clear Lake;

one son, Jim Grieme and his

wife Lou of Johnstown, Colo.;

eight grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren;

one brother,

Arnold Grieme of Alta; and

many nieces, nephews and

friends.
