A MEDITATION IN MEMORY OF GEORGE MOSEMAN

George Moseman was born in Crawford, Nebraska, May 9, 1980. The first several years of his life were spent in a half-sod, half dugout house inthe Crawford, NE area. When he was approximately two years of age, hisfamily was forced to move to Chadron, NE because of Indian uprisings in the area. Then in 1900, the family moved to Lyons, NE. where George received his schooling and took pride in playing football on the Lyons football team.

After high school, George farmed for three years and then joined his father to help develop their grain and feed store business in Lyons. He remained in that business most of his adult life. He also engaged in a very active life of community service. He served on the Board of Education for nearly ten years in the town of Lyons and was president of thatboard for several years. He was also a member of the town board or Citycouncil for a number of years. It is interesting to note that his church and community activities always seemed to have a very heavy accent on youth. He was superintendent of the Sunday School in Lyons for 29 years, where he used his great storytelling ability to provide a story every Sunday that made the Bible come alive for the youngsters.

I'm sure that many of you here today remember George Moseman as a goodnatured man with a keen sense if humor, a person who delighted in hearing and telling a good story. He was also a person of a deep and vital religious faith. He said on several occasions that if he could start hislife all over as a young man, he would become a minister of the gospel. It strikes me that in more ways than he knew, he was a minister of the gospel, for he blended his religious faith with the life that he lived.
