Callista Retia PATTON

Callista R. "Pat" Saum, 88, of Fort Jennings, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday, December 25, 2005, at Calvary Manor in Glandorf. She was born July 26, 1917, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Metzger) Patton. On August 10, 1940, she married Wilfrid Saum, who died October 10, 1994. Mrs. Saum was a homemaker and, before she was married, worked at the Boston Store in Delphos. She later worked at Westinghouse Corporation in Lima and also at Sylvania (later Phillips) in Ottawa. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, a graduate of Delphos St. John's High School and a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She enjoyed her family. Survivors include a son, Ronald (Diane) Saum of Fort Jennings; three daughters, Lois Saum of Dayton, Ginny (Jerry) Maurer of Kettlersville and Nancy (Don) Luebrecht of Fort Jennings; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Earl Patton; a sister, Ruth Patton, and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be no viewing hours, but a Rosary service will be held prior to the services at the church. Harter & Schier Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
