Notes for this person
Published in Fergus Falls Daily Journal, 29 APR 1931
Mrs. Carl F. Tomhave, who has been in poor health for some time past, died at an early hour this Wednesday morning.
Mrs. Tomhave was born in Gudbransdalen, Norway, May 27, 1879, and would have been 52 years of age next month. Her maiden name was Miss Randine Ekerhaugen. She was baptized July 13, 1879 and at the age of three years, came to America with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Peder Ekerhaugen, and settled on the town of Aastad. She was confirmed Oct. 29, 1893, in the Norwegian Lutheran church by Rev. A. J. Hulting.
Her marriage to Mr. Tomhave took place June 5, 1906. They moved to Sandstone, MN., and resided there until 1912, then to Cass Lake, where they spent a year, since which time they have resided in Fergus Falls.
She is survived by her husband, who is a well known miller at the Red River mill, and by three daughters, Dorothy, now Mrs. J. F. Snyder, of Minneapolis, Mildred of this city, and Myrtle, now Mrs. Hansen, of this city. She also leaves two sons, Raymond and Harold. Two other sons, Kenneth and Herbert, have preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Benson and Mrs. John Hole, of Dalton, and by three brothers, Ole, Olaus and Mathias Ekerhaugen of Aastad.
She has been in poor health for some time, suffering from goiter and complications, and submitted to an operation, but all that could be done proved in vain.
She was a devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by a wide circle of friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, with a brief prayer at Benson's chapel at 1:45 o'clock and services at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church on Union avenue at 2 o'clock, Rev. W Fredrich officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the northeastern part of the city.
