Elias CIRCLE

Eli Circle died on April 23d, of Bright's Disease, after four weeks of suffering, which he bore long and partiently. Mr. Circle was born in Bottetott county, West Virginia, November 17th, 1818; came to Kosciusko county in 1845, and was married to Jane Widup on January 25th, 1849, and immediately settled on his farm of 320 acres of land, which was then a dense forest, and by patient industry he converted it into a finely improved farm, where still lives his wife and three grown up sons. For thirty six years he lived in peace at home and in prefect harmony with his neighbors, the very large gathering at his funeral attesting the love and sympathy felt by all his neighbors in paying their last tribute of respect to his memory. He was a member of the Tunker church, and Revs. Snell and Workman conducted the funeral services at the residence, where at least two hundred of the friends of the family had met to witness the last solemn rites paid to one who had no enemies. Strongly attached to his family and home he was truly a christian in practice, and his every-day life was characterized by true manly honesty in all his dealings. One by one the pioneers are passing away to their long homes, and soon all of the old settlers will have passed away to the golden shores of eternity.
