DANVILLE COMMERCIAL-NEWS, 17 May 1991. Miriam Luciie Hickman of Catlin died at United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Il. on May 15, 1991. She was born in Catlin Township on April 24, 1909, the daughter of William Isaac Albert and Sarah Adeline Cox Gilkison. Miriam married Wayne Hickman on June 12, 1932, at her parents' home in Catlin Township. They lived in northem Illinois where he worked as an electrical engineer and returned to Catlin after his retirement. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18,1981. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Hickman; a granddaughter, Susan Hickman; a sister, Dorothy Thielking; a sister-inlaw, Mary Gilkinson; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Baldridge, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Miriam was preceded in death by a son, Charles Wayne Hickman on June 17, 1970; her parents; two brothers, Charies and Sanford Gilkison; and two sisters, Cena Hickman and Iris Davis. Miriam attended Fayette and Plainview Grade Schools and was graduated from Catlin Township High School and Lakeview Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Catlin Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, singing, playing the piano and visiting with relatives and friends. She worked with Girl Scouts, Parent-Teachers Association and church groups, and was known for her good sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at the Catlin Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 1991. Robert Stacy will officiate. Visitation will follow the service. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Catlin Township. Memorials may be donated to lllini Children's Christian Home in St. Joseph, Illinois, or Catlin Church of Christ. Sunset Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
