James Turner Rogers of Mexico, died July 20, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo. He was born December 16, 1923, to Kaster C. and Mary E. Turner Rogers, Canton, Mo. He married Dorothea Zahn in 1952 who passed away in 1980. In 1984, he married Mary Lou Roate of Quincy. Mr. Rogers was a graduate of Canton High School and the University of Missouri. He served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific and China. Upon returning to college, he received a commission in the Air Force. After graduating he worked for International Harvester; in 1957 he became a Field Underwriter with the New York Life Insurance Company. He received his CLU and CHFC degrees and was a Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was president of Kiwanis Club of Canton, President of Canton Recreation Association, and manager of Canton Little League, who enjoyed 44 consecutive victories. He was a member of Centennial Baptist Church in Mexico and was proud to claim baptism in the Mississippi River at rural Canton Shiloh Church. He is survived by his wife of the home; three children, Mark Rogers of Mexico, Mo., Michael Rogers and wife Lisa of Edmond, Okla., and Lori Fowler and husband Tom, Sikeston, Mo.; three step daughters, Christine Tailford and husband Michael, Phoenix, Ariz., Angela Cooper and husband Vincent of Berlin, N.J., and Melinda Rehrig and husband Troy of Quincy, Ill.; three granddaughters, Alex and Miranda Fowler, and Loren Rogers; one step granddaughter; six step grandsons; four nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothea Zahn, his parents and two sisters. Funeral services were Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Arnold's Funeral Home in Mexico, Mo., with Rev. Jerry Ostrom and Rev. Chris Atkinson officiating. Burial was in the Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Centennial Baptist Church.
