Mary Leona GILLESPIE

GILMAN -- Mary Leona Zirkle, 84, of Gilman, died Saturday (Oct. 25, 2003) at her home, after a long illness. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. rosary service at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman, where she was a lifelong member. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Gilman. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. She was born March 11, 1919, in Gilman, the daughter of William Patrick and Bertha Jane Osborne Gillespie. Her husband, Clyde A. Zirkle, whom she married June 18, 1935, in Gilman, died Sept. 18, 1998. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Eugene and Kay Zirkle of Onarga, John David and Gloria Zirkle of Gilman; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Mike Matuszewski of Milton, Wis., Ramona Anne and Donald Gerdes of Onarga, Mary Louise and Ron Mulligan of Arlington, Texas, Nina Jane and Tom Dundas of Clifton; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta VadBunker of Kankakee, Bertha Parbs Hansen of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and two sisters-in-law, Fern Barber Watson of Gilman and Mabelle Zirkle of Onarga. Three brothers, Earl, Lawrence and Patrick Gillespie; four grandsons, Daniel, Eric, Jeff and Tim; and one son-in-law, Robert Sterk, are deceased. Mrs. Zirkle was a member of the CCW at her church. She enjoyed traveling.
