Published in The News Leader (Staunton, Virginia) - Wednesday, August 6, 1924: WOMAN, SUFFERING FROM BAD HEALTH CUTS THROAT; DIES New Market, Aug. 5. - Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Rosenberger Zirkle, wife of Allen Zirkle, who died at Rockingham Memorial hospital Sunday after slashing her throat with a razor Saturday morning, were held yesterday afternoon from the Zirkle home, four miles south of here, the Rev. Turner A. Graves, of St. Matthews Lutheran church, officiating. Interment was in the Zirkle burial plot near the home. Mrs. Zirkle, who was about 40 years old, was said to have been despondent for some time as a result of ill health. It is reported that she left the family at breakfast Saturday morning and had slashed her throat with a razor before her. Mrs. Zirkle was rushed to the hospital at Harrisonburg but never recovered from the injury. Mrs. Zirkle is survived by her husband and six small children. She was a daughter of the late Harvey J. Rosenberger and was well known in this section.
