Retired farmer and one of two boys who discovered the famous Endless Caverns on their father's property in 1879. He and his brother Clay followed a rabbit into a hole in the foothills of the Massanutten Mountain in 1879 and discovered the caverns. Son of Reuben Zirkle and Jane Aleshire. He married Lucy H. Gaines. They had a son, [Chesley] Hunter Zirkle.
