Arnold K.Zirkle, 84 a resident of Mabie, passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Adam Lewis and Nola Alice Chewning Zirkle. In August 1938, at Elkins he was married to the former Esther Gaye Westfall, who is a resident of Nella's Nursing Home in Elkins. Surviving is son Arnold James Zirkle and wife Gayle of Buckhannon, daughter Carrol Lea Fox of Mabie, brother Cleston Zirkle of Estell Springs, Tenn.; sister Gloria Zirkle Moran of Warren, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Arden, Howard, Arron, Armond and Kilmer Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World II, obtaining the rank of Sgt. first Class. He was retired from Badger Coal Co. He was a ember of the Post No. 5583 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Coalton and the Cassidy United Methodist Church. Services were held Tuesday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Verl Simmons officiating. Interment followed at the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. Full military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of H.W. Daniels Post No. 29 American Legion, Tygart Valley VFW Post 3647 and Coalton VFW Post No. 5583.
