Notes for this person
Daughter of Daniel and Maria Anglemire Tedrow. Attended one year at the U.B. University at Lecompton, KS, taking courses to prepare her for teaching. Following that year of school, in the summer of 1902, she attended the one month's Teacher's Institute at Lawrence, KS, and passed the Teacher's Examination. Her first teaching position was in Manhattan, KS. She boarded in the home of the U.B. Minsiter, Rev. and Mrs. E.B. Slade, who performed the marriage ceremony for the parents of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Married to David Luther Zirkle on 27 April 1904 at the U.B. Church in Green, KS and moved to South Haven, KS where he was self-employed in the mercantile business. On part of their wedding trip, they stopped at the World's Fair in St. Louis. Three children: Wanda, Veda and David Merritte.
