Benjamin Zirkle was the son of George Zirkle (1780-1857) and Barbara (Kagey) Zirkle (1779-1on, Shenandoah County, Virginia. They arrived in Jefferson County in 1839. The home they built from "hand fired brick" stands today in the Mt. Horeb community. Susan Ruth Zirkle is buried beside him. Benjamin's parents are buried in the Zirkle Cemetery in New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia. His sister Mary Zirkle (1810-1866) married Samuel Harshberger. She is buried in the Zirkle Family Cemetery in New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia. His Grandparents were George Adam Zirkle (1738-1800) and Elizabeth Ridenour (1752-1829) buried in the Zirkle Family Cemetery in New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia. His Great-Grandparents were Johann Lodowick or (Ludwig) Zirkle (1705-1746) and Maria Eva Bear (?-1753). Lodowick is buried in an unknown location in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
