Six of his sons served in the Rev. War. Ware Long d. in Culpeper Co., Va., in 1803, aged 112 yr. Christopher Long, his oldest son, m. Sarah ___, and in 1821, located in Henry Co., Indiana, where he died in 1829; she d. in 1822. Their graves are five miles east of New Castle, Ind. Their son Reuben had four sons: Reuben, Jesse Witt, Christopher, and David. Of these, David Long became the first postmaster in what is now Columbia City, Ind.; Christopher Ware Long (father of David M. Long) moved to Iowa in 1853; Reuben P. Long moved to Ark., where he died.Jesse Witt Long and Hannah Hagler where m. 24 Feb. 1825 in Greene Co., O. After her death, he m. Anna Maria Ruch (daughter of Jacob) on 12 Aug. 1847; license issued in Whitley Co., Ind. His will dated 28 Sep. 1854 was prob. 17 Feb. 1868 (Will Book 1, p. 145, Whitley Co., Ind.) and named son Noah Salathiel; wife Ann Maria Long; my children ("nine in number") Marry Effa Cleveland, Edna J. Long Anderson, H. Long (Anderson H.), Joseph Orr Long, Nelson Compton Long, Naomi Elizabeth Long; Noal Salathiel Long, Alice Ardella Long, Alexander McCoy Long, and James F. Long. Wit: Mary Long, Rachel E. Turberville suggests that he was the oldest son of John Long, who was the oldest son of Richard Long."Reuben Long (No. 12) who leads the Third Generation was born in Culpepper County, Virginia, in the year 1773. He married Martha Witt, daughter of Jesse and Martha (Chatham) Witt, in the state of Virginia. Their children were six in number and were named Jesse Witt, Christopher Allen, Reuben, David Ellis, Martha and Sarah, the girls being twins.He settled in Whitley County, Indiana and engaged in farming for the term of his life.
