Funeral services for Joseph Anton Hillesheim, 70, who died Saturday, will be held Tuesday morning in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. The Rev. Father Koller will be in charge. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Hillesheim was a member of the Sleepy Eye Labor society, and was president of the Brown County Cooperative Oil company for 18 years. He was also vice president of the Sleepy Eye Farmers' Cooperative Elevator company for 20 years. He had served as a member of the county AAA committee from 1932 until his recent illness, when he resigned. Mr. Hillesheim was born in Sigel township Nov. 28, 1873 to Hubert and Anna (Corey) Hillesheim <../hubert.html>, and was the oldest of a family of 16 children. He grew to manhood there, and was married Aug. 29, 1900 to Miss Margaret Mertz. They took up their residence on a farm in Albin township, where they resided for 5 years, and then removed to Stark township, where the family lived until Sept. 15, 1943, when they retired and took up residence in Sleepy Eye. In addition to the widow, Mr. Hillesheim is survived by the following children: Hubert Hillesheim, Leavenworth; Mrs. Henry (Kathryn) Rubey, Stark; Mrs. John (Rose) Prokosch, Stark; Herman Hillesheim, Hinsdale, Ill.; Henry Hillesheim, Stark; Nicholas Hillesheim, Stark; Margaret Hillesheim, Jordan; Sgt. Edwin Hillesheim, Camp Gruber, Okla..; Mrs. Jerome (Verna) Rein, Sleepy Eye. Arthur and Leonard Hillesheim preceded their father in death. There are 26 grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Clara Pelzel, Wabasso; Christ Hillesheim, Springfield; Peter Hillesheim, Sleepy Eye; Sister Huberta, Winona; Mrs. Peter Gores, Wabasso; Barney Hillesheim, Sleepy Eye; John Hillesheim, Leavenworth; Frank Hillesheim, Stark; Mrs. Fred Mikelson, Sleepy Eye; Mrs. Oscar Juenemann, Springfield; Florian Hillesheim, Leavenworth; Mrs. William Guggisberg, Gibbon; Mrs. John Juenemann, Clements; Henry Hillesheim, Sleepy Eye. One sister, Mrs. Joseph Sellner, Leavenworth, is dead.
