<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Auf dem Altef&auml;hrer Friedhof, an der Nordseite der Nikolaikirche, befindet sich die Grabst&auml;tte der Familie Piper. Es sind drei altert&uuml;mlich wirkende Grabsteine mit kaum nocherkennbaren Engelsk&ouml;pfen. Die Inschriften sagen uns, dass hier der ehemalige Altef&auml;hrer Pastor Karl Piper und drei seiner Kinder begraben sind. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Auf dem mittleren Stein erkennt man einen fliegenden Kranich, das Wahrzeichen der Fluggesellschaft Deutsche Lufthansa.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Es ist die Ruhest&auml;tte meiner ehemaligen Mitsch&uuml;lerin, der Oberstewardess Karin Piper, die vor 50 Jahren, am 11. Januar 1959 mit nur 27 Jahren bei einer Flugzeugkatastrophe ihr Leben lassen musste. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Die Maschine, eine Super Constellation L 1049 G, befand sich auf dem Weg von Hamburg-Fuhlsb&uuml;ttel nach Rio de Janeiro.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">F&uuml;r Karin war es ein gewohnter Flug, denn sie wurde wegen ihrer Spanisch-Kenntnisse vor allem auf der S&uuml;damerika-Linie eingesetzt. Etwa 20 Minuten vor der Landung war die Crew angewiesen worden, auf 3000 Meter herunterzugehen. Es folgte (bei str&ouml;mendem Regen) ein Sinkflug auf 900 Meter. Dann ber&uuml;hrte das Flugzeug mit dem Bugfahrwerk die Wasseroberfl&auml;che. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Vermutlich konnte der Pilot die Maschine nicht mehr hochrei&szlig;en, so dass es kurz vor der Landebahn zum Absturz auf morastigem Boden kam. Es hie&szlig; damals, dass die Rettungskr&auml;fte wegen der Bodenbeschaffenheit nicht schnell genug an die Ungl&uuml;cksstelle herankommen konnten. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: DE;">Alle 39 Passagiere verloren ihr Leben, von den 10 Besatzungsmitgliedern &uuml;berlebten nur drei.</span></p>
