| Hilda Sherfy M.D., 89, of Longview passed away May 1, 2010, at the Hospice Care Center. She was born Mathilda Sartorius Freiin von Waltershausen Aug. 14, 1920, in Germany, to Eberherd and Annamarie (Haupt) von Waltershausen. Dr. Sherfy graduated cum laude from medical school in Hanover, Germany. She practiced in Guam, Texas and Washington before retiring in 1985. She moved to the local area 24 years ago. Dr. Sherfy was an avid reader and loved bears, collecting stuffed bears and donating to their preservation. She was preceded in death by a stillborn child; a sister, Edith Sartorius Getty; and her husband, Dean R. Sherfy, in 2003. Her friends survive her. At her request, no service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Arrangements are by Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home.
