He was married to Hannah Fitterling in 1838, and to this union was born thirteen children. A number of years since he made his home with his sons in Shelby County, but during recent years he resided with his children in Linn Co., IA where he died.His wife died May 1, 1887. He was a faithful member of the U.B. Church for sixty years. The funeral services were held on Sunday at 2:30 pm conducted by Rev Pickford. in Maple Grove Church, and the interment was made by the cemetery at Union Church, Lincoln Twp.
