Als promovierter Jurist ist Georg Friedrich Bucholz als Syndicus des Lübecker Domkapitels tätig. Der geistig vielseitig interessierte Buchholz ist mit Johann Andreas und Carl Friedrich Cramer, Johann Heinrich Voß und später auch mit Friedrich Münter befreundet und verkehrt in Lübeck eng mit Christian Adolph Overbeck und Heinrich Wilhelm von Gerstenberg, mit denen er auch in der Pflege der Musik verbunden ist.[MichaelStübbe,September 2010]
