" Der erste Namensträger in Lübeck, Johann Michael Kroll, wird 1706 inMarburg als Sohn des dortigen Professors der Theologie, Dekans und Rektors (1699) Dr. theol. Johannes Laurentius Crollius geboren. Der in Rotenburg gebürtige Johannes Laurentius Crollius (1641-1709) wird 1686zu Heidelberg zum Doktor der Theologie promoviert und lehrt fortan alsProfessor der Philosophie in Herborn und Heidelberg, wo er auch alsProrektor wirkt. 1693 wird Johannes Laurentius Crollius von den Franzosenaus Heidelberg vertrieben und flüchtet nach Marburg, wo er bis zuseinemTod an der Theologischen Fakultät tätig ist."
