Notes for this person
Interment Record for Eva Grace Parker Hood
Name: Eva Grace Parker Hood
Born:22 Dec 1859
Died: 16 Jan 1902
Buried: Minter
Location: NORTHWEST
Notes: Information from Lisa Mitchell, 2 Sep 2000, 2031 Edgehill Drive,
on 16 Jan 1902, in Lamar Co., TX and was buried in Minter Cemetery. She
was born 22 Dec 1859, inCalhoun Co., MS, and was the daughter of James
Harris Parker (1810-1888) andMary Brockman Bobo. Eva was married about
1882, to George William Hood probably in Calhoun Co., MS. Their children
were: 1. James William Hood, b. Jan 1883; 2. Walter P. Hood, b. 29 Jan
1885; 3. Corena L. Hood, b. Dec 1888; 4. George William Hood, b. Oct
1895; 5. Golden Grace Hood, b. July 1898. Eva Grace Parker is the younger
sister to Harvey Ebenezer 'Ebb' Parker who married Elizabeth Hood,
younger sister of George William Hood. (See the Harvey Parker & family.)
Family legend is that George was killed by a neighbor in a dispute over
fence lines. The neighbor hit George over the head with a fence post and
killed him. The orphans were raised by various family members. Note:
AlthoughEva's birthdate on the tombstone is '1860,' she appears on the
1860 MS census as a one-year old in the house of her father, James Harris
Parker. I believe the tombstone is in error. *Tombstone is inscribed,
'Eva G. Hood.'
