Mrs. Lawrence O. (Esther T.) Fischer, 77, of Ecumenical Towers, Dubuque, formerly of Cascade, Iowa, died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1925, in New Vienna, Iowa, daughter of George and Agatha (Meis) Loeffelholz.
She married Lawrence O. Fischer on Sept. 11, 1945, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa. They farmed in the Bernard, Iowa, area for more than 20 years. After moving to Cascade, she worked at the Mount Carmel Motherhouse in Dubuque. She was a member of St. Mathias Parish in Cascade.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mary E. Kenney, of Bellevue, Iowa, Janet K. (Ronald) Cook, of Balltown, Iowa, Bonnie J. (Robert) Molid and Sheila E. (Dan) Heacock, both of Dubuque, Debra A. (James) Watters, of Maquoketa, Iowa, Joan M. (Scott) Stewart, of Bushnell, Fla., and Connie M. (Henry Wills) Carroll, of Odenton, Md.; four sons, Kenneth L. Fischer, of Cascade, Robert J. Fischer, of Iowa City, Edward W. (Linda) Fischer, of Kalona, Iowa, and Paul J. (Veronica) Fischer, of Fort Worth, Texas; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Renilda Pasker and Rita Mae Buhman, both of Dubuque; and two brothers, LeRoy Loeffelholz, of Guttenberg, Iowa, and Charles (Darlene) Loeffelholz, of Potosi, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence O. Fischer, on Sept. 21, 1978; three sons, one in infancy and Marvin and Wayne Fischer; a grandson, Kevin Arterberry; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Deutmeyer and Mrs. Lee (Rosella) Schulte; two brothers, Louis (Elizabeth) Loeffelholz and Francis (Sandra) Loeffelholz; a sister-in-law, Lucille Loeffelholz; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Pasker and Ralph Buhman.
