<p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Fremont Tribune, published Nov 15, 2001</p> <p>SCRIBNER -- Melvin H. Johnson, 91, of Scribner, formerly of Fremont, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.</p> <p>He was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Oakland. He married Mildred Suhr Dec. 2, 1930, north of Hooper. He and his wife lived in the Uehling area until 1934 when they moved to Plano, Ill. He was a farm manager there for 25 years and then was elected to the Highway Road Commission of the Little Rock Township in 1959 and served for 17 years. Due to ill health, he retired and returned to Nebraska. He lived in Scribner for eight years and then moved to Fremont in December 1984. He had been residing at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner since March 1997.</p> <p>He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. He was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Plano, Ill., where he served three terms on the church council and served on the church building committee and various other offices. He was a former member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Fremont.</p> <p>Survivors include his wife, Mildred.</p> <div id="video-ad-asset-container"> He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.</div> <p>The memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. The Rev. Susan Butler will officiate. There is no visitation. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery north of Hooper.
