I don't know what happened to Claus. The story is that he went to San Franciso, Calif. in the early 1900's. There was some thought he might have been in the large earthquake there about that time. Around 1907 in Los Angeles- He was never heard of after he left Neb.

Oral history: He has got a Ostrich-Farm (written in the letters to germany) in warmer state (may be California). Might be a good hint...

At that time there were some Ostrich Farms around San Bernardino. But I can't figure out if he worked there.
There is a Claus Brockman listed in the census 1930. The data immigrated 1887 and born 1871 fits perfect to our Claus.
He worked as a gardener at private homes.
