a. Moved from IL to Humbolt, co., NE (Sec. 21) in 1860.
b. Worked as a freighter and later as a farmer and stock raiser.
- In 1864 he was severely wounded during an Indian attack on a
train at Walnut Creek, KS.

Enlisted in the Nebraska Cavalry.

In the 1880 census his step-son, W.S. Shrader, was enumerated
with this family.
- He was a retired farmer in 1910.
