Emil Hartz nimmt am 1.Weltkrieg als Sodat an der Westfront teil.
Im 2. WK wird er zur Technischen Nothilfe eingezogen mit der Aufgabe, nach Angriffen in den zerstörten Stadtteilen aufzuräumen. In dieser Aufgabe holte er als Rottwachtmeister der Technischen Nothilfe auch die Toten aus den bebombten Häusern.
Emil Hartz stirbt am 20.02.1982 um 10:50 Uhr seit einigen Tagen geistig verwirrt in seiner Wohnung im Ödenweg 66.
Seine langjährige (seit 1955) Lebensgefährtin Helene Schmidt (Witwe des "Schwagers" August Schmidt) pflegt ihn bis zuletzt.
