Obituary From Cole Camp Courier, Nov 9, 1933 (in part): Old Resident Laid toRest. Henry Ficken was the son of Peter and Gasena Ficken and was bornFebruary 14, 1849 on a farm two miles south of Cole Camp. He spent hisyouth in the Balke Prairie neighborhood and confessed his Savior bybecoming a member of Monsees Lutheran Church. Mr Ficken was twicemarried, his first marriage being with Miss Anna Margaret Cordes in1867. This union was blessed with three sons and two daughters, ofwhom the three sons preceded their father in death. Two years afterthe death of his first wife in 1912, he was married to Miss AnnaWilson who survives. For many years he lived south of Ionia, havingmoved there in 1884. In 1916 he retired and moved to Sedalia where heresided five years. He returned to Cole Camp in 1921. The deceased issurvived by his wife Anna C. Ficken, two daughters, Anna - Mrs Wm.Keuper of Ionia, and Katherine - Mrs G. C. Cast of Appleton, Wisc.,ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, one brother JohnFicken, and one half-sister Mrs Peter Reck of Collinsville, Okla. [Errors: 'Gasena' should be Gesche, first marriage was in 1868, firstwife died in 1913. His brother John P. Ficken died in 1918, and hishalf-sister Dora Ficken Reck died two months earlier, in September1933] From Cole Camp Courier, Nov 2, 1933 (in part): Henry Ficken, wellknown retired citizen of this city died at 11:20 o'clock Wednesdaymorning. He reached the advanced age of 84 years, 8 months, and 18days. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. H. Scherer, pastor ofthe United Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
