abt 1808 went "way out west" to philadelphia with Catharine. All children were born in Philadelphia.(Jared's siblings remained in CT, "to branch out elsewhere , later") 1834 they followed son Benjamin to WI, went to cincinnati, OH staying there about two years, then went by boat form cincinnati, down the Ohio river and up the mississippi arriving on the steamboat, science, owned by Capt. Clark, in Cassville, WI, in 1837. It was one of the first boats of that class to make the trip up the mississippi. 1850 census, aged 66,"grocery keeper", resided in dist. 24 , grant co.
