Erma Lane, formerly of Durant, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at t
he home of her daughter, Lolita Bauer, where she was residing. Visitati
on is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Bentley Funeral Home, 10016th St., Durant. Serv
ices will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bentley Funeral Home.Burial will be in D
avenport Memorial Park. Serving as casket bearers will beTim Lane, Lyle K
ress, Allen Hale and Neil Baker. Erma Carrie Helkenn was born June 2, 191
4, in Scott County, Iowa, to Henry and Wilhemina "Minnie" (Meier) Helken
n. She received her education in Scott County schools. She married Howa
rd Lane on Dec. 11, 1943, at the Free Studio, Davenport. They farmed in t
he Stockton and Sunbury areas for 36 years, retiring in 1980 to Durant. S
hebelonged to several card clubs and Durant Senior Citizens. She also enj
oyed gardening and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be ma
de to DurantAmbulance Fund or the family for an education fund for her gr
eat-grandson, Michael Lane Kress. Survivors include daughters, Lolita Bau
er, Davenport, andLanette Lane, Bettendorf; granddaughters and their husb
ands, Tina (Toyne) and Lyle Kress, Blue Grass, and Tammy (Toyne) and Tim L
ane, Walcott; and a great-grandson, Michael Lane Kress. Special frien
ds of her daughters, Neil Baker,LeClaire, and Allen Hale, Bettendorf al
so survive her. She was preceded indeath by her husband, Howard, on De
c. 5, 2000; her parents; two sisters, EdnaHelkenn and Elna (Mrs. Victo
r) Makoben; and three brothers, Carl, Herbert and Allen Helkenn. A speci
al thanks to Erma’s caregivers, Julie King, Barb Butenschoen, Dee Wollf a
nd Tammie Robertson, and former caregivers, Brandy Fogleand Carol Wilming
